Objective

  • This learning track covers foundational and intermediate methods of User Experience (UX) and Human-Centered Design (HCD).
  • Learners gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experiences on HCD across all phases
  • Learners are able to purposefully design and manage experiences of users and customers.
  • Relevant ESCO occupations: 2519.7.5 ICT usability tester, 2511.19 user experience analyst, 2513.3 user interface designer

Learning Outcomes

This learning tracks covers all learning objectives of the individual modules:

  • foundational and intermediate methods of user research, especially performing interviews and observations
  • communicating user research results, for example with personas and journey maps
  • translating user needs into requirements
  • ideation and prototyping to create design solutions (e.g., scenarios, storyboards, task models, wireframes)
  • solid overview and hands-on experience with different testing methods, e.g. usability testing, user experience testing, remote testing, survey-based measurement of usability and UX
  • creating usability test reports and deriving recommendations for follow-up iterations
  • understanding the business side of UX and aligning the organization to deliver positive experiences
  • Relevant ESCO skills: measure usability, execute user research activities, test for emotional / behavioural patterns, assess users’ interactions, measure customer feedback, conduct quantitative research, conduct qualitative research, report test findings, use methodologies of UCD, conduct research interviews, use experience map, draw design sketches, translate requirements into visual design, design process, interact with users to gather requirements, design user interface, create website wireframe, develop creative ideas, plan medium to long term objectives, identify stress points of customer interaction, manage the customer experience, design customer experiences, improve business processes, analyse business objectives, analyse data about clients, provide improvement strategies

This learning tracks covers 48 hours over ten days:

  • Day 1: Crash Course: Key Concepts in User Experience (UX) – 12.06.2023, 10:00-12:00
  • Day 2: Introduction to Human-Centered Design 1 – 15.06.2023, 9:00-13:00
  • Day 3: User Research (additional in-depth session) – 22.06.2023, 9:00-18:00 (1 hour break)
  • Day 4: Introduction to Human-Centered Design 2 – 28.06.2023, 9:00-13:00
  • Day 5: Introduction to Human-Centered Design 3 – 05.07.2023, 9:00-16:00 (1 hour break)
  • Day 6: Introduction to Human-Centered Design 4 – 12.07.2023, 9:00-13:00
  • Day 7: Usability and User Experience (UX) Testing (additional in-depth session):  19.07.2023, 9:00-18:00 (1 hour break)
  • Day 8: User Experience (UX) Management – 20.07.2023, 9:00-18:00 (1 hour break)
