HPI Design Thinking Train-the-Trainer

The train-the-trainers course aims to empower individuals to support and lead innovation teams using the mindsets and practices of Design Thinking.

The course will impart the basic tools of both design thinking and innovation coaching. Course participants will learn skills, tools and methods not only at conceptual level but also by applying design and coaching skills in live workshop settings.  At the end of the three-part course, participants will be able to structure a Design Thinking workshop as well as lead innovation teams through phases of the design thinking process.



  •  Expose and familiarise participants with the mindesets and practices of design thinking
  • Enable participants to lead an innovation team by choosing, adapting and moderating
  • Empower participants to support innovation teams in the formulation and pursuit of their objectives
  • Enable participants to organise and run basic design thinking workshops at both methodological and substantive

Learning outcomes

  • Experience of the mindsets and practices of design thinking and co-creation
  • Acquire and adapt a basic set of design thinking tools and methods
  • Experience and apply basic skills of innovation coaching and experiential teaching


Prior exposure to and familiarity with the mindsets and practices of Design Thinking, Human-Centred Design and Co-Creation


This training has a total of 56 hours and takes place over several days:

This training does not have any assessment or exams; a certificate of participation will be issued to participants. A mandatory attendance percentage of at least 80% is required.
