Interactive introduction to cryptography. The modern communications need the confidentiality of transmitted messages. This workshop uses visual methods to illustrate the concepts of encryption, decryption and the robustness of the used algorithms.

  • Hands on workshop using physical tools to show message scrambling techniques of old Greece to modern times.
  • Introduction to cryptography: symmetric, assymetic, public keys, hashes, signatures, certificates.
  • All beginner friendly: this course does not use any computers, code or mathematics.

Learning outcomes

  • Learn why a good password and a good algorithm are important for securing data.
  • Introducing high level concepts of public key infrastructure.
  • Understand digital signatures.

The first part of this course is especially aimed at novice users to explain what is happening below the surface of today’s infrastructure.

No computer skills or mathematics needed.

The second part will cover an overview of today’s cryptography algorithms.

Certification:

This training does not have any assessment or exams; a certificate of participation will be issued to participants. A mandatory attendance percentage of at least 80% is required.
