This is a beginner’s introduction course to computer networks. It is intended for people who have never done anything with networks before and will help you to understand the basic principles and concepts of networks.

Objective

The goal is to give people that are not computer scientists an introduction how the internet and computer networks in general function. After the course you will have a basic understanding of the mechanisms that are used in a computer network. You will also understand the different network devices (Routers, Switches).

  • Understand how a network functions
  • Understand the basic functions of network devices
  • Understand how IPv4 addressing works
  • Be able to setup a small and simple network
